The denouement of Frankenstein comes with the death of many many characters, an effective way to tie up loose ends, and Victor's word that he will hunt down the monster and kill it. He sets out to track down the monster and chases it all the way to the frozen seas of the North Pole in the Arctic. There, he falls into the frozen water, and is rescued by Captain Walton and his men, whom he tells his story to. Frankenstein dies after telling his tale, and the monster is stricken with grief. Even after all of the events that had transpired, Frankenstein was the monsters creator, and the monster could not help but feel some remorse for him. After weeping over his body, the monster claims he is going to kill himself, then disappears into the darkness of the Arctic ocean, never to be seen again.
