how frankenstein shaped
The world: Frankenstein had a tremendous impact on the world. It showed that in moderation, the pursuit of knowledge is a great tool for mankind. Knowledge is required to improve and evolve. When moderation is thrown out the window however, and the quest for intellect begins to border on the obsessive, as seen in the case with Doctor Frankenstein, the results of the outcome take a turn for the worst, and horrible things can come to life. If Frankenstein had exercised any self control whatsoever, he would have seen the flaws in his plan, and that it is never a smart idea to play the gods.
The culture: Frankenstein's impact on culture was like no others. It influenced so many things that we still today see in mainstream media. The novel showed that everybody has emotions, and that no matter how sinister the actions they perform are, it is still possible to feel sympathy for anybody. It also inspired several movies, games, etc. which in turn influenced our culture even more. The movie "Frankenstein" is considered a classic, and made the concept of angry mobs with torches and pitchforks incredibly popular.
The literature of today: Frankenstein introduced many new concepts into literature. Shelley may have been young, but she knew what she was doing. The concept of creating life from an inanimate object had never been heard of before, and thus people were astounded by Shelley's novel. While none of the events in the book actually ever happened, it was an amazing tale, that very well could have been possible if it were not for natural laws. This novel was the spark that lit the fire known as the science fiction genre.
